Tony nominated playwright Jeremy O Harris arrested in Japan on charges he allegedly smuggled ecstasy into the country

Shocking news in Japan this weekend. According to officials, American playwright Jeremy O Harris remains in custody following an arrest back in November.  That arrest per officials saw Harris allegedly in possession of the psychedelic drug ecstasy.

Tony-nominated American playwright Jeremy O. Harris is facing serious legal trouble in Japan. According to officials in Tokyo,  Harris is investigation and related following a 16 November arrest on charges that he allegedly smuggled ecstasy into the country. Japan has a notorious zero tolerance policy for drugs.

Officials per the announcement claim that he was caught with 0.78 grams of ecstasy in a tote bag he was carrying while passing through  Okinawa ‘s Naha  Airport  on that day.  It is understood that Harris was in London two days prior before having jetted off to Japan, though it is unclear when the alleged drugs would have entered the picture.

Harris is facing potentially several years in jail in Japan if convicted on the charges.
