Luigi Mangione who is accused of murdering Brian Thompson in broad daylight is now jockeying to bar the possibility of the death penalty in the case against him. The move comes after a recent win against prosecutors.

The Lowdown

Fresh off of a win to get terrorism charges dropped against Mangione, his defense attorneys are now setting their sights on bigger fish. According to reports, Mangione ‘s team is now moving to have the death penalty taken off of the table entirely. Defense attorneys in court documents argued that prosecutors have made the entire case a ‘marvel movie’ spectacle which prejudiced the case and Mangione ‘s chance at a fair trial they say.

Elsewhere in the latest Mangione developments, defense attorneys are also arguing that Mangione ‘s fifth and eighth amendment rights were violated after he repeatedly has been paraded like a ‘captured cartel chief or comic book villain.’ The huge 114 page court document filed Friday night also argues that prosecutors should be precluded entirely not only from including the death penalty but that the case should be dismissed entirely.
