Known as the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Trump Administration according to reports is seeking to outright dismantle the agency all together. With an annual budget of $30B, the move would redirect disaster costs back to states instead of the federal government.

This week Donald Trump announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency would soon begin receiving far less money to give to states in response to natural disasters. The move is part of Trump ‘s wider effort to dismantle much of the government and instead centralize power.

In a change from past management teams, funds are to instead be given out directly from the White House. “We’re going to give it out directly. It’ll be from the president’s office. We’ll have somebody here, could be homeland security.” Trump said during a briefing at the White House this week on Tuesday.
