11 people stabbed at unhoused shelter in Oregon

According to authorities, a resident of an unhoused shelter was arrested after a mass stabbing event at Union Gospel Mission-run facility in Salem.

The Lowdown

Police in Salem on Sunday announced the arrest of a man also a resident from the named unhoused shelter around 7:15 pm local time.   The arrest came after he allegedly stabbed 11 different people abruptly on Sunday evening.  There are no full details on those hospitalized as of yet as officials have not provided clear details about their conditions.  According to the Salem Statesman Journal at least one victim was seen heavily bleeding from the neck following the attack.

According to NBC News, officials believe the mass stabbing event occurred after the unidentified man got into a fight during check-in for his 2nd night.
