The Lowdown

According to reports, Trump ‘s White House has once again extended the requirement that TikTok sell itself or face a ban on national security grounds. The app was originally due to be banned on 19 January following Congressional action that banned it on national security grounds. Trump ‘s first extension lasted until this weekend.

“My Administration has been working very hard on a Deal to SAVE TIKTOK, and we have made tremendous progress,” Trump posted on his Truth Social. “The Deal requires more work to ensure all necessary approvals are signed, which is why I am signing an Executive Order to keep TikTok up and running for an additional 75 days.”

Trump added: “We look forward to working with TikTok and China to close the Deal.”
