The Lowdown

According to KPLC, the then-young mother (20), claimed to authorities that her 16-month-old baby died after falling from his crib on accident on 20 January 1970. In 2022, however, it was ruled a homicide sparking a renewed investigation after the young child’s family began calling for a renewed look at the case.
The child, Earl Dwayne Bunch III was at the time found badly bruised and covered in bite and burn marks. At the time of all of this unraveling the child’s father was serving overseas in the Vietnam War.
The outlet notes that she has been charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death of her son. In case it couldn’t get any worse it does. Letters she allegedly wrote to Earl Jr (while he was overseas) revealed her true feelings about her son.
“What is wrong with me darling. I should love my own son but I really don’t think I do and if I did I would know it. I feel as if he would die tomorrow I wouldn’t care. I can’t help it. To me he is the one who ruint (sic) my life.”
