The once-eradicated Measles in the United States is making headlines once more. According to CDC officials, the outbreak has now spread to at least five states, with TX having the lion’s share of the outbreak, with nearly 500 cases. Other states with their outbreaks include New Mexico, Ohio, Kansas, Oklahoma, Alaska, California, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, and Washington.
These outbreaks come against the backdrop of fears that the disease will continue to spread for at least a year, especially among unvaccinated communities and those hit hardest by medical misinformation.
