According to a new announcement from Ukrainian and American officials, a deal has been worked out that will see America repaid for its aid to Ukraine. Estimates place the cost of helping Ukraine fend off Russia at $140B.

The Lowdown

Repayment to come in the form of access to rare earth minerals and a joint Ukrainian-American state fund. That fund per the AP will include up to 50% of revenue from state-owned arteries including oil, gas, and physical rare minerals.

Sources also revealed to the AP that security guarantees aren’t included in the updated framework of the deal, although, those probably will be discussed during the high-stakes meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy on Friday.
