French government announces changes and renovations to the Louvre museum

A new announcement from French President Emmanuel Macron is making news. According to the French government, not only is the Louvre undergoing a renovation so is the location of Leonardo da Vinci’s iconic Mona Lisa painting.

The Lowdown

Visitors to the Louvre may have noticed renovation signs as of late. According to an announcement by Macron, UK visitors first off be charged more than European visitors to visit the museum. The new rule also applies to anyone outside of the European Union not just the United Kingdom. The renovations also include a big move for the Mona Lisa which will soon sit in its own underground room in the museum further protecting the legendary piece of art.

In the same announcement, Macron revealed that a new entrance is also being built near the River Seine which is scheduled to open sometime around 2031.
