Through all the dust CNN creates there’s another big story about the network making headlines. According to reports, a recent CNN report has gone viral for all the wrong reasons.

The Lowdown

The problem with the above report according to a Syria fact checking agency is deep. The man identified himself to CNN’s Clarissa Ward as a prisoner who had been detained for about a month on his release.

But that couldn’t have been farther from the truth according to the agency. According to Verify-Sy, the man seen is actually  Salama Mohammad Salama, also known as Abu Hamza.

The initial report claimed that the man was the sole prisoner in one of Assad’s brutal prisons. But in reality he alike Assad was was responsible for some of Syria’s worst crimes. Verify-Sy discovered that he lied and actually is a First Lieutenant in the Syrian Air Force Intelligence.
