As previously reported by Bazaar Daily, Kingston and his mother are accused of running a massive fraud ring believed to have been worth just north of $1m.
The Lowdown
Kingston and his mother this week found themselves before a judge who isn’t thrilled. Kingston and his mother Janice Turner have both been hit with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and at least five counts a piece of wire fraud itself. As we previously reported, the duo allegedly ran a massive scheme that saw them steal cars; fancy furniture, unpaid loans both personal and business, lying about Kingston ‘s own current musical connections just to name a few.
Both are facing up to 20 years a piece on each count if convicted. In the case, prosecutors are arguing that Kingston unlawfully used his celebrity status (or lack thereof) as means to swindle would-be vendors out of hundreds-of-thousands of dollars eventually accumulating more than $1m in stolen property.  The rouse would often have vendors ponying up before payment was ever actually received.
Prosecutors allege that the wire fraud attempts and actual incidents occurred between April 11, 2023 and March 29, 2024, the indictment alleges.
On Friday afternoon, Sean Kingston was released on a $10,000 cash bond and Turner was released on $5,000 cash bond, according to the latest information available about the case.
