William Anders, famed Apollo 8 astronaut who took iconic ‘Earthrise’ photo, dies in plane crash at 90

Anders was famously among the first three humans to orbit the Moon but was equally known for his Earthrise photograph that he took during the time. According to reports, Anders passed away Friday after a plane crash in Seattle Washington.

The Associated Press reports that Anders was in a small plane traveling throughout the area when it crashed on Friday afternoon. His death was confirmed by his family who was ‘devastated’ by the sudden news of the ninety-year-old’s death.
