An alleged mastermind behind the infamous Tylenol murders has died. Lewis who was long suspected in the 1982 case died abruptly this month but ‘under what appear to be natural circumstances.’
CAMBRIDGE, MASS — James Lewis, 76, the longtime infamous alleged suspect in the 1982 Tylenol murders has passed away. Lewis although never charged with a crime had long been considered the prime suspect in the bizarre case. According to local police, they responded to a distress call around 4 pm on Sunday and discovered Lewis inside of his Cambridge home.

The infamous Tylenol murders were a series of 6 murders that took place that year. 6 people reportedly died after consuming medicine that was believed to have been laced with cyanide. The murders triggered nationwide panic at the time after killings in Chicago, though nothing ever came of charging someone.
Lewis notoriously spent 12 years in prison for sending an extortion note to Johnson & Johnson demanding more than $1m in payment to ‘make the killings stop.’
