In a rare world first England is toying with the idea of legally prescribing e-ciggs to those who wish to stop smoking at some point in their lives. According to the government, the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA)  is publishing updated medical advice this weekend on how that may soon become a thing in the country.

“E-cigarettes contain nicotine and are not risk free, but expert reviews from the UK and US have been clear that the regulated e-cigarettes are less harmful than smoking,” the government said in a statement.”A medicinally licensed e-cigarette would have to pass even more rigorous safety checks,” it added (per CNN)

According to the NHS, e-ciggs do not actually produce tar or carbon monoxide but aren’t completely risk free either.
