Former cheer coach Jerry Harris who was arrested on child porn and abuse charges earlier this year —- will now remain behind bars while he awaits trial. According to the judge presiding over the case, Harris poses a significant and grave risk to the community and therefore wasn’t granted release pending trial.
“By all accounts he was a rising star with a positive future ahead,” Magistrate Judge Heather K. McShain said during a phone hearing, “but those positive aspects must be weighed against the aspect he hid from the community.”
“There is clear and convincing evidence that the defendant would be a danger to the community if released,” she added.
Harris is facing years behind bars on the charges and at least one verified rape charge.
