The unjust death of 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks this past week has once again ignited fresh protests over the use of deadly force by officers towards black people. Brooks, 27, died in the parking of an Atlanta Wendy ‘s after an alleged 9-1-1 call claimed that he was asleep in his car blocking a drive-thru in the parking lot.
At first — many tried to paint the murder as justified because of the fact that some reports initially claimed that Brooks was heavily intoxicated to the point nothing made sense. However, a medical examiner ‘s report out this week now reportedly confirms that he indeed was murdered by those Atlanta officers.
“(Brooks) did not seem to present any kind of threat to anyone, and so the fact that it would escalate to his death just seems unreasonable,” the DA said in response to the homicide and the almost inevitable charges against the officers involved.
