A federal lawsuit that found its way online this week has ignited a lot of discussion about human rights and personal privacy when going through the TSA checkpoints located within American airports.

According to the complaint,  Jamii Erway and her mum Kimberly attempted to board a flight out of Raleigh in May 2019. They allege during that time while going through TSA,  Jamii accidentally set off a false positive on the scanner, in which caused the TSA agent to force her to step aside.  Jamii reportedly attempted to explain to TSA that she was/is transgender and that if they simply altered the gender marker it wouldn’t of done that [TSA notably refused.]

Notwithstanding, and for reasons still unknown to plaintiffs, [the supervisor] advised Jamii that she would need to accompany her to a private room, expose herself, and allow [the supervisor] to ‘feel up in there,’ i.e., touch her genitals,” the complaint alleges.
