NYC moves to ban broker fees for people looking to rent abodes

In what may be one of the biggest developments for renters in NYC in years, it looks like the city has taken steps to ban brokers fees. According to legislation quietly posted on Tuesday, it is now illegal in New York City for landlords or “middlemen” to charge broker fees.

Brokers fees have long been a form of serious rage for many in New York. They’re notorious because they often result in the cost of said apartments going up or causing the general cost of finding said apartment to soar.
