BIG NEWS in Saudi Arabia, at least, on the front in the fight for women’s rights. According to the Ministry of Justice, women, will now receive formal notification if their husband chooses to divorce them. Previously, divorces were “largely seen as secret” and often went at the decision of solely the man of the house.
The move comes at the request of Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, who, at one point was previously seen as a “consequential reformer”. But, uh, has now been marred by murder accusations surrounding a particular journalist.
More importantly, uh, women in Saudi Arabia will now be able to check their maritial status online.
