Senior Democrats are calling for investigations this weekend following a Guardian report that revealed alleged wrongdoing by two Trump allies. Those allies are two fossil fuel billionaires who in recent times have gotten very entrenched in Trump’s orbit.
The Lowdown
In what is being called yet another example of corruption at the hands of Trump’s inner circle — two allies are once again making headlines for the big bad c word. According to The Guardian, quite a few Democrats are now calling for an investigation into claims that Robert Pender and Michael Sabel the founder and co-founder of Venture Global have been engaging in pay-for-play tactics with the adminstration.
Venture Global is a Virginia headquartered is a liquified natural gas company. In March, the pair reportedly bought $12m shares in their own company. The share spree came after a hush hush meeting with a top Trump official who later helped get a key regulatory permit authorized that expanded the footprint of the company in Europe.
