Perverted accusations are abound in Alabama. According to reports, a longtime Roman Catholic bishop has voluntarily resigned from his role as a clergy after a woman alleged abuse. The woman claims she was 17 when a ‘private companionship’ began with Robert Sullivan.
The Lowdown
The Guardian reports that an allegedly perverted bishop in Alabama is out of a job. According to the case, Robert Sullivan voluntarily left his post this week following accusations that he paid for sex and more with a minor which wasn’t known until the accuser Heather Jones actually surfaced. Guardian notes that her written formal statement and complained was delivered to the Birgminham diocese that sparked his downfall.
Interestingly, Jones per the report had plenty of evidence to back up her claims including financial and e-mail records alleging she was paid hundreds of thousands of dollars by Sullivan to keep quiet about their arrangement.
It remains unclear if Sullivan may face any consequences over the allegations as authorities in Alabama often do not pursue such cases. In Alabama the age of consent is actually just 16 years old.
