The Lowdown
As it turns out French authorities are investigating not one but two museums heists this week. According to police, they believe just hours after the Louvre was robbed another heist took place at the Maison des Lumières in Langres. Some suggest this heist was orchestrated with great expertise sparking fears these historical pieces like those from the Louvre may also be lost forever.
This time robbers made off with rare coins some dating back 200 years according to the investigation. Some 2,000 coins are believed to be missing. The stolen coins believed to be valued at $100,000 or more are a part of a historic collection related to French philosopher Denis Dedirot.
