Sony is set to sunset some Playstation 4 services next year report says

With the Playstation 6 eventually coming down the pipeline it looks like Sony is looking to offset some old services. According to reports, Sony is preparing to sunset select PS4 services beginning next Spring.

The Lowdown

Some big changes are coming to the Playstation 4 according to a new report out Monday. According to Insider-Gaming, Sony is set to begin sunsetting some legacy PS4 services in the spring of next year. The move comes as Sony expects new titles to be submitted for the console.

Interestingly, Insider Gaming notes that Sony announced that games submitted after the spring of 2026 will no longer be able to connect to the following functions:

  • Activity Feed Web API
  • Title Small Storage (TSS)
  • Title User Storage (TUS)
  • Users and Profiles
  • Word Filters
  • Shared Media Web API

The move comes ahead of the consoles 12th anniversary.
