Fox News host Brian Kilmeade is no stranger to controversy but this one has him in hotter water than usual. According to reports, Kilameade earlier this week suggested that the homeless who refuse government assistance should be killed.
The Lowdown
During a Wednesday airing of Fox & Friends Brian Kilmeade struck a negative tone so strong it sparked instant backlash in the episode when the hosts are discussing the unfortunate and savage murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska. The suspect in that crime is reported to be both mentally unwell and unhoused.
Kilmeade’s remarks came after a cost host openly discussed the need for stronger detention measures in the country. It was then per USA Today that Kilameade suggested they should just be killed as if they don’t matter.
But by Sunday, he was singing a much different tune. The Los Angeles Times was among the first to report of his apology on the matter.
“I apologize for that extremely callous remark,” Kilmeade said Sunday per the Los Angeles Times. “I am obviously aware that not all mentally ill, homeless people act as the perpetrator did in North Carolina and that so many homeless people deserve our empathy and compassion.”
