Healthcare cuts are here, here’s what to know as Gov Hochul plans to shrink healthcare eligibility

Following the passage of the Republican led  “One Big Bill’ that became law earlier this year.  According to reports, New York ‘s Gov Kathy Hochul is prepping to make some unfortunate cuts to a healthcare lifeline for many.

The Lowdown

According to Gothamist,   New York’s Kathy Hochul is preparing to make some undesirable healthcare cuts to the Essential Plan offered through the state. The plan primarily served those that were not eligible for Medicaid but still  hit the 250% of the federal poverty line.

Some estimates place that at least 450k New Yorkers are likely to be deemed ineligible for their continued healthcare under the proposed plan changes out Wednesday. The Governor claims the cuts are necessary followineg the Republican bill earlier this year in Congress.  It does come just a year after coverage was first expanded under the Essential Plan in the state.
