Shocking news in Amsterdam. According to reports, the country is on edge this week following the vicious stabbing murder of a 17-year-old girl by a man reported to be in the country unlawfully.

Safety is the talk of the town in Amsterdam this week following the vicious 20 August murder of a young girl only known as Lisa. According to police, Lisa on that night was traveling from Amsterdam to Abcoude (about ten miles from each other) when she was followed home by a 22-year-old male. On her route there, she did call the first police however it was too late by the time they arrived. She was found on a quiet stretch of road just outside the city.
The murder has shocked the area where residents have long considered it safe to bike home. Women now say they are rethinking such journeys especially after dark or alone. Police say that the 22-year-old suspect believed to be an asylum seeker was also hit with charges related to a sexual assault just five days before her tragic murder.
