The Lowdown

According to the National Hurricane Center, a Hurricane named Hurricane Erin has swelled into a Cat 5 storm (the strongest possible) after it appeared off the coast in the Caribbean on Saturday.    Weather officials are warning that life threatening conditions are likely for those in the eye of the storm. Although not believed to be directly headed for the United States,  people should express caution if headed to the beaches along the East Coast over the next week or so.
