New comments by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have sparked fresh international condemnation. In those comments, Netanyahu now claims that the IDF intends to take full control of Gaza — a feat that many have claimed was the intent from the start.
The Lowdown
Israel ‘s Benjamin Netanyahu is facing a wave of criticism this weekend following the release of a so-called ‘Day After’ plan for Gaza. In that plan, BiBi revealed that Israel intends to take full control of the besieged Gazan strip — a feat that has sparked widespread condemnation and the halting of weapons sales from at least one European ally.
Much of the condemnation comes from the fact that Israel does not appear to want to genuinely end the war, in fact, that alone is a thought allegedly held by world leaders and allies alike. In Germany, Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that while Israel has a right to defend itself from Hamas actions and terror — that it does not have the authority to do what it has done and escalating the conflict.
In case it couldn’t get any worse it does. According to reports, Arab Nations have also joined in on the criticism over the ‘Day After’ plan. Saudi Arabia was quick to condemn the move all the way around, Egypt has expressed its support for Gaza, and Jordan called the move an effort to ‘entrench’ Israel ‘s occupation of Palestinian territory.
