Donald Trump ‘s hardline immigration policies are back in the headlines. According to reports, a judge has ruled that Jordin Melgar-Salmeron, who was deported even though such was barred, must be returned to the country.

The Lowdown

Trump ‘s immigration crackdown has faced another setback. This week an appeals court ruled that the Trump Administration must take the steps to return  Jordin Melgar-Salmeron to the United States following his wrongful deportation.   He was first deported on 7 May despite an explicit court order that he not be deported but was sent to El Salvador anyway thirty minutes after said court order was issued. In typical Trump  administration fashion  they at the time blamed the man’s deportation on an administrative error similar to claims they made about the also-deported-and-since-returned Kilmar Albrego Garcia (who is now facing federal charges on claims he is a co-conspirator in a people smuggling ring.)

According to the Guardian, the court order issued on Tuesday is designed to ‘withstand’ previous efforts by the Trump Administration to ignore court orders.  In recent weeks,  the Trump Administration has ramped up its efforts to ignore court orders against its administration’s agenda.
