According to this document, new legislation in the UK is ‘one step closer’ to further criminalising LGBTQ+ based hate crimes (that includes attacks on trans people.) The move would categorise such crimes in the same way racial and religious crimes are already categorised.
The document notes that politicians are moving to introduce a New Clause 122 to the Crime and Policing Bill that would “create statutory aggravated offences motivated by hostility towards an individual’s disability status, sexual orientation or transgender identity (or perception thereof)”.
