On Wednesday, a new development in the case of Mahmoud Khalil emerged. According to a ruling, federal judge Michale E. Farbiarz ruled that the Trump Administration could no longer hold Khalil on grounds that he is a threat to national security.

The ruling goes into effect at 9:30 am on Friday.  Khalil, who has not been charged with a crime, has been held since March after he was detained by immigration authorities in the lobby of his University apartment before being taken to Louisiana.

This is all happening as further claims about Mahmoud have surfaced. According to The Guardian, the same ruling found that he could be held for allegedly misrepresenting facts on his green card application. Despite that last part he has not been charged with a crime at all.
