A shocking piece of information courtesy of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has people talking and criticisism abound.  According to Hegseth, the monster bill  to send troops to LA is enormous.

The Lowdown

American taypayers aren’t going to like this one.  On Tuesday, Sec of Defense Pete Hegseth  attended a House appropiations committee hearing (in regards to the Pentagon) revealed to Capitol hill that the price tag for sending in troops and marines to Los Angeles is expected to surpass a total of $134m.

So far 700 marines and an 2,000 National Guardsmen and women have been deployed to the area despite the overall objections of CA ‘s Governor Gavin Newsom and  the mayor of Los Angeles Karen Bass.   The Pentagon on their part claims that the enormous cost is mainly for travel, housing, and food.   But for a political party supposedly bent on saving taxpayers money this may not have been the way to go.

During the same hearing, Hegseth confirmed that such troops and the like will be in Los Angeles for ’60 calendar days’ to help quell the protests.  Police officials from the LAPD have already claimed that the federal threat and federal presence is complicating de-escalation efforts on the ground in the area.

Hegseth provided no justification for turning troops and servicemembers on American citizens other than the far-right claim that such protests  are littered with people who are in the country illegally.
