Just shy of a decade after acquiring Family Dollar in a $8b transaction, Dollar Tree is now shedding the chain all together in a sale to a pair of private equity firms.

The AP reports that Family Dollar will soon have a pair of new owners.  AP notes that on Wednesday a deal to sell the troubled retail chain to Brigade Capital Management and Macellum Capital Management was formally announced.  The deal is valued at more than $1B.
