An end to an era of fast fashion. According to bankruptcy proceedings filed Sunday, Forever 21 is shutting its doors for good. The brand could easily be considered one of the first entries to fast fashion though it could not survive modern stiff competition.
The Lowdown
According to a new statement released by Forever 21’s owners the fast-fashion chain is no more in the United States. In recent years, the chain has struggled in the face of competition especially from sites like Shein and others. In the same announcement, executives confirmed that liquidation sales are underway (we’ve noticed them ourselves in New York City.)
Forever 21 has filed for bankruptcy twice in the past six years showcasing the host of problems the fast fashion chain often faced.
