The Lowdown
The Guardian reports that an unvaccinated adult in the heart of New Mexico has died from measles. It is the latest development in the resurgence of the virus once eradicated in the United States.
The death per the report isn’t formally linked to the outbreak itself nor it is immediately clear how the person contracted the virus to begin with. No medical care was sought before their death. It occurred in Lea County New Mexico.
Authorities in the area are certain that the actual number of cases is probably higher than what is known right now but further investigations will have to take place.
