Belle Gibson the infamous Australian wellness guru who lied about having cancer is back in the news. Fresh off of the Netflix treatment, brand new outrage is raging through the country given that she has not paid her dues to society.

The Lowdown

Gibson who about a decade ago famously lied about having terminal brain cancer is still on the hook for the massive fines she owes to Australia and others. According to the case against her, she has not repaid the $261,000 USD (first levied against her in 2017) fine stemming from her deceit about charitable donations in the past. Gibson despite her dishonest scam has never actually been charged by authorities in Australia though they want their monies.

Gibson is the subject of the Netflix docu-series Apple Cider Vinegar. The fines stem from her app Whole Pantry which way back in 2013 she famously claimed had some 200k downloads and generated proceeds. Proceeds that according to the case were supposed to be donated to a family of a young boy who actually had terminal brain cancer. On her part, Gibson reportedly told the court in recent months that she is unable to pay her fines and does not actively have a job.
