For the first time in more than a century, a fascianting new royal find in Egypt. According to researchers, the tomb of King Thutmose II has been discovered.
The Lowdown
The fascinating find comes some 100 plus years after the discovery of the equally fascinating tomb of King Tutankhamun in 1922. Researchers first discovered the decaying tomb in the Wadi Gabbanat el-Qurud, southwest of the Valley of the Kings, in October 2022.
Heritage Daily traces the tomb and the tombs surrounding the discovery and how they led researchers to find that the area appeared to be of the royal kind. Interestingly, CBS News has researchers on the record disputing part of the find stating that instead it belonged to Thutmose and not as originally thought to have been a royal consort ‘s tomb.
