NYC ‘s widely disliked Eric Adams is once again back in the news. According to reports, federal officials have dismissed the federal charges against Adams at the request of the Trump administration.

The Lowdown

In what may lead to the election downfall of Eric Adams, Eric Adams has sold out New York City to the Trump Administration. According to reports, Adams’s federal case has been dropped at the request of the Dept of Justice. Adams on his part denies that he spoke to Trump personally to curry favor hoping for a dismissal. BBC notes that the order to dismiss Adams ‘ case came from the acting attorney general.

Interestingly, the case per the memo from the DOJ ‘can be reviewed again’ after the November 2025 mayoral election though no action is expected until then. In all, Adams has pled not guilty to at least 5 different federal charges related to allegations that he accepted bribes from foreign Turkish nationals in exchange for better treatment by the city.
