Woman pleads guilty over doomed smuggling operation that left 16 people dead

A Florida woman is guilty this weekend over a case that involves a human smuggling operation from the island of Cuba to America.

The Lowdown

According to an announcement by the DOJ, Yaquelin Dominguez-Nieves a resident of Sebring Florida has pleaded guilty to federal charges that claim she orchestrated a migrant smuggling operation from Cuba to Florida.

The feds allege that Dominguez-Nieves began operation sometime around November 2022. In their statement, it was revealed that she collected some $11,500 in payments meant to be divvied up between her and a counterpart that was in Cuba at the time.

Her sentencing hearing is slated for 11 April at 11:00 am.
