In what has been called one of the most extreme crimes England has seen in some years, an 18-year-old teenager is going to prison for 52years following his murder convictions.

The Lowdown

According to reports, Judge Julian Goose said 18-year-old Axel Rudakubana “wanted to try and carry out mass murder of innocent, happy young girls” in his ruling handed down on Thursday.

Per the case he had plead guilty to the murders of Alice da Silva Aguiar, Bebe King and Elsie Dot Stancombe and 10 charges of attempted murder. Despite his young age, the judge said during his ruling that the killer will likely never be set free.

The case was a close one given that Rudakubana was under the age of 18 at the time of the murders and therefore couldn’t have received a sentence of life without parole. Per the case, he will have to serve 51 years before he is eligible for parole.
