The Lowdown
NBC News reports that an affidavit in which the network first discovered an unreported allegation against Hegseth has now surfaced. It comes as allegations of abuse towards his second wife also surfaced this week sparking fresh criticism about his nomination to lead the Department of Defense. On the part of his ex-wife, per NBC, she denies the allegations that Hegseth was not only so abusive that she required the use of a ‘safe word’ to trigger an escape plan with the help of her loved ones.
In the unreported allegation, sometime between 2014-2016, Hegseth ‘grabbed his then-wife by the genitals without consent.’ The allegations this time around first surfaced after Hegseth’s former sister-in-law Danielle Hegseth testified against Hegseth clearing the way for the claims to surface.
The shocking allegations have been denied by Hegseth although they join a chorus of other allegations threatening to derail Hegseth ‘s bid for the top job.
