The Lowdown
More financial nightmares for New Yorkers. According to Bazaar Daily America, Hochul is keeping quiet amid reports that the state is attempting t to hammer out its spending package. A package that of course is expected to cost in the billion(s) at the expense of taxpayers in the state of New York. Bazaar Daily America reports that the plan includes some pretty spendy items on the menu.
They are:
- $77m for the NYPD’s overtime. This is for scores of officers to be assigned to overnight subway patrols and for hundreds more on the platform. The already bloated NYPD budget is set to get a huge bump.
- $3B worth of checks to low and middle income families to help with ‘affordability.’
- Medicaid costs are set to exceed $1B.
- These are just some of the proposals we will update this article tomorrow when the full budget is supposed to be released.
While she hasn’t fully addressed some aspects of the proposals, Hochul ‘s budget is expected to be fully unveiled on Tuesday. She has largely avoided questions and concerns and instead has punted most communications to lawmakers in the state.
