A pharmacy worker in Delphi Indiana is now on trial for the grisly murders of two young girls. According to reports, a break in the case five years on led to the arrest of Richard Allen, 52.

The Lowdown

According to the reports, the case against Allen began this week more than 100 miles away from where it began. Juror members were picked from Fort Wayne Indiana and for the duration of the expected month-long trial are under strict rules. The two children allegedly killed by Allen were 13-year-old Abigail Williams and 14-year-old Liberty German. Both girls were found to have had their throats cut when they died.

Backstory

Both girls went missing on 13 Feb 2017 after hiking on a trail in their hometown of Delphi Indiana. It took a whopping 5 years for police in the area to make a connection to Allen with the allegations. Cell phone evidence at the time of discovery led them to a male’s voice that could be heard saying ‘down the hill.’ Sketches of the then-unknown man were released in July 2017 and again in April 2019.

Allen was first interviewed by police in the case in 2017.

We’ll be following this trial in our True Crime section as it continues to unfold.
