Bad news in the form of new resignations from his administration to one being formally charged.

The Lowdown

According to reports, Mohamed Bahi who served as the community affairs liaison in Adams’ admin has been charged with witness tampering and destroying evidence. His charges come just days after Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright resigned amid the growing scandal.

In the case against Bahi he is accused of covertly trying to undermine the FBI’s investigation; deleting crucial evidence, and witness tampering. Back in June, he allegedly deleted the Signal app from his phone when prosecutors and the feds first came knocking.

Bahi is also accused of trying to order a businessman to lie to the FBI at the same time.

At the time, a search warrant was executed on Bahi’s house though prosecutors allege he went to great lengths to conceal his communications with Eric Adams on Signal. Signal is an encrypted messaging app that allows people to securely communicate with each other.

Bahi was formally arrested this morning and is expected to appear in federal court in Manhattan this afternoon.
