Following the sheer destruction by Hurricane Helene, further funds to help those displaced by the disaster appear to be delayed. According to reports, House Speaker Mike Johnson does not appear to be willing to work.

The Lowdown

According to well Johnson himself, Mike Johnson has decried calls to call the House back to action in order to get more relief to those displaced by the massive disaster that became Hurricane Helene.

In an appearance on Fox News Sunday, Johnson was noncommital following a Biden letter to Congress members that further funding for the SBA ‘s disaster loan program was needed. That program has faced significant funding issues even prior to the devastation left behind by Helene.

Johnson made it clear that the House will only return *immediately* after the election not before. It is the latest sign by the Republican party signaling their outright refusal to perform basic tasks to help ordinary Americans.
