TX ‘s enacted anti-abortion laws according to a new study appear to be having the exact effect critics warned about. According to a new study, TX has seen a significant jump in pregnancy related deaths.

The Lowdown

For comparable context on a nationwide level between 2019 and 2022 maternal mortality rates rose about 11%. But specifically in Texas according to a new analysis the percentile rate is actually grim. According to the analysis seen by NBC News, Texas ‘s draconian laws are proving deadly.

The alarming stat comes as Texas has passed a number of anti-abortion laws in recent years. In Texas, the GOP has restricted access to abortion care as early as 5 weeks into a pregnancy.
