A result that is worth mentioning. According to the IRS, wealthy tax dodgers have coughed up over $1B in unpaid dues following the department’s renewed enforcement against the wealthy.

The Lowdown

A financial milestone in ensuring the wealthy pay their fare share. According to Treasury Secretary and IRS Chief Danny Werfel the agency has collected a huge amount of unpaid dues after it previously announced it would go after the wealthy and those who don’t pay up.

Notably, back in 2019 the wealthy owed more than one fifth of all unpaid taxes. In another feat, nearly 80% of the 1,600 millionaires who have tax bills have since made payments to take care of their business.

The announcement came during an appearance at an IRS facility this week in Austin TX.
