Just a day after Colt Gray’s Dad was also nabbed for allowing his son to have a gun, the teen killer has appeared in court to begin to learn his fate. Gray attacked his school with an semi-automatic rifle earlier this week.
The Lowdown
Judge Mingledorff the judge presiding over the case has made it clear nonetheless that the death penalty is off the table. Gray cannot be executed as previously decided in a 2005 Supreme Court opinion that found those under 18 cannot be executed for their crimes.
Gray is accused of using a semi-automatic rifle to kill two fellow classmates and two teachers at his Apalachee High School in Winder Georgia. Gray ‘s father Colin Gray, 54, has also been hit with several charges including murder and cruelty to children. Prosecutors argued that he is responsible for having purchased the gun Gray later used.
The teen killer is facing up to life in prison without parole or the opposite to be determined.
