Vice President and Dem nominee Kamala Harris is preparing to announce her own policy proposals. Many of those proposals set her dramatically apart from Trump.
The Lowdown
In a first, Harris is set to announce her own policy’s that from the looks of things set her apart from Biden. She is calling for $6,000 for new babies and expanded Child Tax Credits, $25,000 down payments for * some* first-time homebuyers, relief from medical debt and other measures.
Here’s what we know so far
Many of these are expected to be announced on Friday during an appearance in battleground North Carolina. Harris is seeking to distance herself from Biden by launching her own policies — many of which would benefit millions.
Here are some that stood out:
Medical debt
Harris is expected to align with those seeking to provide relief to those struggling with medical debt.
Price Gouging
Harris wants to enact the first of its kind federal ban on corporate price gouging. America has been hit hard by gouging over the past four years, particularly at the grocery store. The move would give state attorney generals the power to investigate those accused of gouging.
Childcare credit
Under a proposal by Harris, child care credits would be boosted to $6,000 for newborns, and hopes to restore the child tax credit that benefited families up to $3,600 per child.
