The man identified as Asif Merchant has been arrested after the Justice Department uncovered a bizarre assassination plot to kill members of both the Democratic and Republican party. Merchant has strong connections to Iran.

ABC News reports that though no final target had been decided he did indeed intend attempt to plan assassinations on American soil starting with Donald Trump and members of both parties. Iran particularly has been angry at Donald Trump since the previous assassination of a top general in Iran.
Merchant has been charged with murder for hire.
